Overview

App description

BIM Hive Structural Plan Annotator speeds up structural annotation in Revit plan views by automatically creating dimensions and optional tags for structural columns and isolated RC footings.
The tool scans the active plan view, finds structural columns, isolated RC footings, and visible grids, then opens a BIM Hive dialog where the user chooses the annotation mode and placement settings.
In Columns mode, the plugin creates dimensions from each column to the nearest horizontal and vertical grids using top and left side placement logic. It skips elements that already sit exactly on grid intersections or axes to avoid unnecessary dimensions.
In RC Footings mode, the plugin creates footing size dimensions and chain dimensions based on grid or center references. It can also place an internal structural foundation tag inside the footing using the chosen offset.
The tool includes duplicate-avoidance logic so it can skip elements that already have tags or dimensions in the view. If modification mode is enabled in the code, it can also remove old annotations and regenerate them using the latest settings.
This plugin is intended for structural documentation workflows where teams need faster, cleaner, and more consistent annotation inside plan views.

How to use

Usage tutorial

  1. Open a Revit plan view.
  2. Make sure the active view contains structural columns or isolated RC footings and visible grids.
  3. Run Structural Plan Annotator.
  4. Choose Columns mode or RC Footings mode.
  5. Select the required tag type from the project.
  6. Set the tag offset and dimension offset in mm.
  7. If needed, set the chain offset for footings.
  8. Choose whether to use element centerlines.
  9. Choose whether tags should be created.
  10. Run the command and review the generated dimensions and tags.
Requirements

Before you install

Revit plan view required
Visible grids required in the active view
