C-Value Documentation

Compute sightline C-values for every seat in your Revit stadium or arena model.

C-Value Analyzer checks viewing quality against a focal reference -- a point, a line, or an element outline such as the pitch edge -- and reports a C-value for every chair family you select, right inside the view you're working in.

Installation

1. Download the installer from your BIM Hive account's Downloads page. 2. Run it, agree to the terms, click Next, then Install. 3. Open Revit -- the plugin adds a BIM Hive tab to the ribbon. 4. The first time you launch it, enter your license key when prompted (find it anytime on your account's Licenses page).

How to Use

1. Open the floor plan view containing your seating (chair families). 2. Go to the BIM Hive tab and launch C-Value Analyzer. 3. Enter the eye height and lateral tolerance, in millimetres. 4. Choose a selection mode and click Select Chairs to pick the seats. 5. Set the focal selection (point, line, or element outline) and pick it in the view. 6. Click Analyze to calculate the C-value for every seat. 7. Use Show Coloring to band the seats, Show Focal to check the reference, and Export CSV to save the results.

Reading Your Results

Results appear in a per-seat table (seat ID, X/Y/Z position, and the calculated C-value). Seats are color-coded by band directly in the view: red is below 60, orange is 60-90, light green is 90-120, and dark green is above 120 -- so you can see at a glance which seats meet your sightline target and which fall short. Export CSV saves the full per-seat table for reporting.
