CAD2BIM
Turns 2D AutoCAD drawings into native Revit columns, slabs, grids, and beams.
Overview
CAD2BIM bridges the gap between 2D CAD and a coordinated structural BIM model. Instead of manually tracing imported DWGs, CAD2BIM detects linework, layers, and shapes from your CAD reference and converts them into native, parametric Revit elements you can schedule, tag, and edit like any modeled object. Built for the early structural-modeling phase, it dramatically cuts the time spent turning legacy AutoCAD plans, consultant drawings, and grid layouts into a usable Revit model - so you can start engineering instead of redrawing. How to use: 1. Open the Revit project where you want to model. 2. Go to the BIM Hive tab and launch CAD2BIM. 3. In the CAD File Import Options, browse to your DWG and set the units and base point. 4. Map each CAD layer to its target element: slabs, columns, beams, and grids. 5. Run the conversion to create the native Revit elements. 6. Review the generated columns, slabs, beams, and grids in the model.
