Finishes Tool

Finishes Tool Documentation

Generate a room's ceiling, plaster, paint, floor, and skirting in a single dialog.

Finishes Tool models every finish layer for one or more rooms at once, bounded to the room, instead of building ceiling, plaster, paint, floor, and skirting by hand, layer by layer.

Installation

1. Download the installer from your BIM Hive account's Downloads page. 2. Run it, agree to the terms, click Next, then Install. 3. Open Revit -- the plugin adds a BIM Hive tab to the ribbon. 4. The first time you launch it, enter your license key when prompted (find it anytime on your account's Licenses page).

How to Use

1. Open a plan view with placed, bounded rooms. 2. Go to the BIM Hive tab and launch Finishes Tool. 3. Select one or more rooms (use Multiple to pick several), then click Finish. 4. In the dialog, set the ceiling type and its drop-from-top or clear height. 5. Choose the plaster wall type and overshoot, and the paint wall type. 6. Set the floor type and the skirt type and height. 7. Click OK to generate the finishes for the selected rooms.

Field Reference

DT (Drop from Top) and CH (Clear Height) are the two ways to set the ceiling -- use whichever your design criteria specify. PO (Plaster Overshoot) controls how far the plaster extends past the wall it's applied to. SH (Skirt Height) sets how tall the skirting is. Paint can apply on the plaster face, on the ceiling face, or at a manual thickness you set yourself. Every finish uses the wall, floor, and ceiling types already defined in your project -- there's nothing new to set up first.
